Table 2011

To me a table is a prominent item in the interior.

In the morning you eat breakfast at this table, in the afternoon your lunch, and in the evening you have dinner with your family or friends. In these moments you share serious, funny and sad stories.

You live with a Table and they carry a lot of history. That's the reason why I chose concrete, it’s a solid material, and that’s why it takes his permanent position in the space.

I also made different types of wood, which stick out of the concrete. The lower wooden layer is also the table pillar. Wood is alive and therefore a lesser solid material than concrete. I also let the rugged bark side of the wood come out, because any type of wood is unique and recognizable. These wooden layers represent different moments and emotions in history.

Also, the different layers of wood are stacked like a staircase so you are able to observe the different types of wood. This creates places to put things we use daily, such as mail, keys, money etc.

Because of the wooden layers and the biggest part made of concrete, the table has become a part with the interior, and it provides you the convenience to place keys and mail etc. on the wooden layers.
Because of the easy use, this table is a living part in the interior and it’s an important element in daily life.
